#1: worn locking wheel bolt key Author: motormania007, Location: Coventry PostPosted: Tue Jul 23, 2013 4:41 pm

Hiya, is it possible to get hold of a replacement wheel locking nut as my existing has worn and it will not allow me to remove two of my locking wheel bolts, I have tried to look at smacking an oversized socket onto it but it does not seem to have any effect, and in the event of getting a puncture in a rear tyre I will have problems,
Any advice would be gratefully received.
I have one of the locking bolts that I have removed successfully so if a picture needs to be added I can upload one to give you chaps an idea of what locking bolts I have.

Cheers Pete

If they're the Pug bolts I'd forget them and use a normal bolt. I've never known any bolts to be as crap/soft.

Find someone with a Dynomec to remove the old ones.

The only way to remove those is with a reverse socket. You can pick up a lazer set for about £20. Works everytime.

Take them all off and bin the lot. Nowadays every car has alloys and unless there mega expensive wheels or you live in a hell hole the chances of them being nicked are slim to zero. Just binned them from mine and the wifes car after a similar experience.

had the same problem on my last gti.I just superglued a socket on them to get them off. Wouldnt bother with locking wheel nuts as if some one wants your wheels they will get them .
