#16: Re: 206 EML on, no obvious fault though? Author: kandlbarrett, Location: SwindonPosted: Sat Jul 27, 2013 2:42 pm ---- riees85 is right. don't base any decision on his advice. from his post you can see that he has a vey basic but misleading understanding of lambda, cat, ecu relationship!
#17: Re: 206 EML on, no obvious fault though? Author: PaulyD, Posted: Sun Jul 28, 2013 6:12 pm ---- Bit of an update, with a twist!
Took it back to the garage I got the exhaust from for an emissions test, which is passed perfectly, visual inspection showed no leaks either. So CAT/exhaust working perfectly fine. Results below
Fast Idle Test:
Test: Limits Actual Value
Engine Speed - 2500 - 3000rpm Manual check - Pass
CO - <= 0.200% 0.097% - Pass
HC - <= 200 ppm 43 ppm - Pass
Lambda - 0.970 - 1.030 1.006 - Pass
Natural Idle Test:
Test: Limits Actual Value
Engine Speed - 450 - 1500rpm Manual check - Pass
CO - <= 0.300% 0.225% - Pass
No issues there, so leading me towards the sensor being at fault?
Now for the funny part. They did the test and turned the car off. Then it wouldn't start again! Crankshaft sensor playing up as read on their fault code reader, something I was going to replace end of month, and it hadn't done this in nearly a month as well.
Nipped next door to All Parts and got a crankshaft sensor with what money I had. Offered them a tenner to fit it for me "off the books, a few beers for ya" and they refused, though eventually said I could use their tools if I wanted to fit it. Fair enough, a 10 min job later and their loss of money!
So went for exhaust to be sorted and ended up fixing the crankshaft sensor!

Also check that you haven't bottomed the exhaust out and bent it ... like our CC ... bl**dy sleeping policemen ...
#19: Re: 206 EML on, no obvious fault though? Author: PaulyD, Posted: Mon Jul 29, 2013 4:16 pm ---- Will get it on ramps and double check before testing the sensors. Won't be until this weekend though I imagine
