Air con condenser split

#1: Air con condenser split Author: Tolkienfan001, Location: Spalding PostPosted: Sun Aug 11, 2013 12:07 pm

As above. I have been quoted £262 to supply fit and regass

Can someone please get me the part number from service box?

I will PM you my VIN.

I want to see if I can reduce the bill by buying and fitting it myself as the gas system is currently empty. Ten I just have to pay to have it tested and regassed.

Thanks

How did they know which part is at fault? Reason I ask is mine have never worked, tried to get it regassed on Thursday and hey told me they had to stop due to a massive leak. Have you had it uv tested?

How do you know it's leaking? I would suspect pipes first.

Or the seals that connects from the pipes to the condenser.

Because it has been to an aircon specialist and pressure tested. I was asked to go into the garage and they showed me with the uv light the 4 leaks down the right hand seam of the condenser.

£25 for the test. Then £262 for the condenser fitted and retested and gassed. Not a bad price but seeing if I can save money by getting and fitting the condenser myself as the system is empty.

If you supply your own parts, some garages can be funny about that.

I'm not going to just supply the part. I will either buy and fit and get them to test and gas. Or I will leave it to them to do it all. Just weighing up the costs at the mo

Take it to quick fit once fixed and they will test it. When they tested mine last week told me there was a leek and there was no cost. Smile

Dont forget you need "Polyol Ester Oil Lubricant" for the rubber seals. Smile

The bottom pipe listed as no.5 on the diagram, does that go into the pot?

Do you mean this diagram? Number 5 is an 'o' ring seal
