#1: Front bumper removal Author: bashyy1, Location: Milton KeynesPosted: Sat Nov 02, 2013 2:19 pm ---- So I had a go at taking the bumper off today to fit my sp grill as I heard it was supposed to be easier.
I was pretty close to getting it off, the only problem I had was with the one bolt either side of the bumper, they will just not undo, it just spins around and around. (heard this is common)
Anyone ever done had this and can lend a hand?
Heard you just cut it off but I don't see how I'll have to room to get a saw in there, plus I'll risk damaging my paint.

#4: Re: Front bumper removal Author: robb, Posted: Sat Nov 02, 2013 2:49 pm ---- I actually had this problem on both sides today, it's a poor design as the nuts will get seized and have much stronger hold with rust to the thread than the silly plastic sliders on the bumper do.
I struggled with the car on a lift, but eventually managed to get some vice grips into the squares and used my ratchet spanner on the nut, was still very difficult, but eventually got it sorted.
To install again I just used a nut and bolt with some nice big washers either side, so next time I can get a pair of spanners on the job and don't have the rely on the silly bumper plastic clips, as with most things like that they are great for 2 to 3 years but cause major issue later down the line

Yeah!!That's exactly what I was trying to say, the sliders just can't hack it and break, hense the screw spinning.
I just couldn't explain how you did haha.
And funnily enough I did try using a vice grip on the square bit, I guess I'll try again now I've put it all back together haha.
So is it easier to get to these bolts taking the headlights out do we think?

Unfortunately they are security type bolts. Absolute night mare,,
Best bid of advice, either break the bolt or get some mole grips on it and then try undoing it.
