I've decided the car's going to be with me for a year or two despite the mileage as I love driving it. SO much character about the wee thing! I've got a fairly steady and well paying part time job but with the mad insurance and the fact I go to football matches every week it kind of murders my budget. So, as soon as the season ends (after April) it'll be lowered, phase two rear lights, a new radio and speaker system, a full valet, new front bumper, sp vents grills and fuel cap, debadging, dewipering and maybe a few other things! Basically you'll see nothing until then and all of a sudden everything will happen!
Anyway, that's all but here's a couple of wee photos of the car squeaky clean after a wash.
Beside my step-dad's VW T4 which has been completely re-done, must get an upload of that as he's turned it into a full camper. Unbelievable job!
As you can see from the photo, the rear wiper blade broke. It's just another excuse to de-wiper I suppose, at least that's what I'm telling my Mum!

Having a mental argument with your sat-nav when travelling to a football match isn't a good idea when there's a BMW 1 series stopped at a junction ahead. Tried to get up onto the curb and slammed the brakes but didn't stop in time. Main thing is that we all walked away (myself in my car, 2 women and a baby in the BMW - could've been a lot, lot, lot worse).
Fear not. The 206 theme shall be continued. Going to look at a silver 2002 one on Friday so hopefully I'll have some progress. The wheels from this one (he's called McKenzie by the way) will be going on, I'll need another 206info.co.uk sticker (maybe red? On silver? What do you guys think?).
Anyway, sadly this one died a death. Real shame - I loved this wee car Was absolutely devastated on Saturday morning when it happened. Keep walking past it in the driveway, patting the bonnet/roof and apologising. Weird, aren't I?)

So, here's the story. I was driving to the Irish Cup Final two Saturday's ago and had a mental argument with my Sat-nav, which was telling me to go a slower way. Looked up and bang, a BMW 1 Series is in front of me. Slammed the brakes on and mounted the curb but couldn't avoid collision however thankfully myself and the 2 women and young baby in the beamer all walked away unharmed.
Done some car shopping as we thought this was done in but after getting it checked out it turned out just the track rod end and the panel work was damaged, making it absolutely fine as long as it got repaired properly.
So, here's the photo of the 206 with the damaged wing removed. I also shattered the air-con filter but apparently it isn't really important so I'll just take it off.
On the other side of the car it appears I'd bumped in to a post after hitting the BMW. This won't be repaired for a while, if at all. Just happy I'll be back on the road again to be honest. Here's the damage on that side with my finest paint skills showing the damage!
Here's the broken track rod end which essentially turns the right front wheel whenever you turn the steering wheel. As you can see, I totally sheered it off
And here's some mangled metal with the air-con filter on the left, shattered to pieces. It'll be taken off.
The front headlight was absolutely smashed and here's the general debris pile that we brought back with us. Half of my headlight is still down the Ballygowan Road!
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! ON TO THE NEW STUFF! I got a new bonnet, wing and headlight for £50. The guy at the breakers yard threw the wee grill thing on top so that'll be going on instead of the big plastic silver Peugeot badge currently on there and these wee plastic things that I have absolutely no idea about. Anyone know what they do and where they go, haha?
(These are what I'm on about!)
It's dark and I was tired so forgive the horrible focus, but the car will hopefully be mended tomorrow. That's all for today

I'll not go over the events and stuff from the older post. So, I woke up this morning with all of the parts including a brand new track rod end that was given to me for free sitting down in the garage. Set to work with my step dad and an old friend who used to be an engineer - the result was brilliant in my opinion.
So I took one photo during the day to show the vastly changed front of the car and the rest at night because the car is stinking and the paint needs work done to it. I'm going to get the paintwork all professionally valeted in the next week or so and give it a good wash and interior clean/hoover/polish because honestly the car is really dirty.
First thing was first. The mangled metal was all straigtened out and the wing was put on. The paint isn't a perfect match and it was originally silver, with the respray not being brilliant in all honesty - hopefully the valet will sort that out.
Here's the replacement bonnet. I know, you can really tell the difference can't you?! Yeah - it was dark and nothing terribly exciting but it's absolutely stinking.
I also took the chance to get 2 new front tyres. Apparently one of mine was absolutely bald and the other wasn't far from it. Not good! Anyway, whilst I was at it I got the wheels realigned - the guys said that the left front wheel was way off! Now that it's had the handling improved I really noticed it whilst driving - it's so darty and nippy, the steering feels tighter and sharper. I love it!
Those of you with eagle eyes will have noticed me slagging off the eyebrow things that I had posted about here, in the 206 Talk part of the forum. I claimed they'd be nowhere near my car. Well, I've eaten my words! Simply the headlight had a bit of a gap with the wing - we did our best but it wasn't perfect. Anyway, it was initially going on to fill the gap but now that it's on I really like them!
Now for the big moment! I absolutely love the front of my car now! The eyebrows make it look a bit meaner almost and I think it looks fantastic but this grill is just perfect! Unfortunately the clips to put it on didn't actually exist, so we bolted it onto the top as normal and it's currently having some ultra sticky black stuff drying it into place. We used the same stuff car manufacturers use to put windows onto cars!
I absolutely love it. It's so much nicer. I'm going to be doing a fair bit more to it as the bumper is frankly crap and it'll be replaced. Anyway, crisis averted and it's brilliant.
The best statistics:
Tow for the car after accident - £50
Bonnet, wing and headlight - £50
2 New tyres and wheel alignment - £85
Grill, eyebrows etc. - FREE
Labour - FREE (all done by friends/family)
The paint valet will be £40 but to actually get it to the stage it is at now was £185. Not bad at all, eh?
