#1: 2002 206cc 1.6 16v not starting Author: GP-F, Location: Fairford PostPosted: Thu Dec 26, 2013 3:26 am
    ----
Just tried to start the wife's car to move it & it doesn't seem to want to fire up.
It was started on the drive yesterday & moved across the drive. It has fuel, the fuel pump purges & the battery seems fully charged, I also tried the spare key (which I know is coded etc).
Anything else I need to check before I try to jump start/ call Aa/rac out? Any help would be appreciated.

Did you start it move it a few feet and turn it straight off?

If so it's something called a bore wash. I did this once. Very difficult to get it started again. Had to jump start it in the end as I flattened the battery. Had to give it gas to get it started.

I suspect yes, as the wife moved it. Will try to jump it later, fingers crossed/thanks! Was also thinking could it be dampness?? Any
Other ideas/suggestions?

You won't get "bore wash" with a modern injected car. The minute it starts the bore wash (if you have had it) is gone.

A good set of late 70s / early 80s twin 40 carbs and maybe but not with modern electronic injection.

What do you suggest then??

If it is spinning fast thus suggesting that the battery is good then get the codes read. Possibly crank sensor?

Ok, put the jump leads on & initially just started to die. Checked all electrical contacts & sensors )I could see. Tried to jump again & turned over quickly, it started to try to start, spluttered a few times, strong snell if fuel then started (after pumping the accel).
Just run it for 10 miles, stopping on hills & restarting
Arrived home & battery is showing 14.2v when turning over 12.8v on idle.
Hopefully problem solved.
Thanks for the replies & help!!
That's another reason why these forums WORK!!
