(maybe) Author: marv88, Location: aldeburgh suffolkPosted: Sun Feb 02, 2014 12:49 pm ---- evening all help needed........went to top coolant up today. and to my dismay header tank was empty. panic! ok anyway oil level was correct and perfect. very very very very faint sign of water no colour change or anything! could this be the water pump then? anyone got ideas? is a 51 plate gti. any help is much appreciated, is this an easy job to do whatever the problem is?

(maybe) Author: Timon2210, Location: PalestinePosted: Sun Feb 02, 2014 1:19 pm ---- Well you need to look for leaks if there is a leak on the side of timing belt,then the water pump is faulty and need to be replaced,also check for leak underneath the radiator as it's also a common problem to have leak there.

Then watch the guage for pressure dropping, and see where the coolant is leaking from.
