Judder in 3rd, 4th & 5th
-> 206 Problems

I have a judder almost like driving over a rumble strip under reasonably hard acceleration upto 50 in 3rd, 4th & 5th gear.

The clutch isn't slipping or is the judder a sign of clutch slip?

I do have an oscillating noise which happens in neutral as well as pulling away- I thought it was alternator belt, but it isn't.

Is the judder hiding the clutch slipping?

Do you hear a little squeak from under the bonnet when you switch the engine off?

It's not something I normally hear as radio is on, but i'll listen intently tonight when I get home from work.

What if I do?

If it squeaks as the flywheel stops it means the DMF is on its way out so it will be new DMF & clutch time Wink

Mine has been squeaking for the last 30k ish (since my ownership) to be honest.

When these things go, do they leave you stranded or will it destroy the gearbox as well?

Will do.

My other car should be on the road next weekend anyway so if it does go I won't have to rush around getting it fixed.

Further more to this, i've discovered when the engine is under load, i.e. when the turbo comes on boost that's when the judder occurs.

No surprise there. That is when you will get the biggest bang and torque loads.
