#1: 206 problem - misfire - juddering Author: Lordish PostPosted: Tue Feb 18, 2014 5:02 am
    ----
Hi. I recently bought a 2003 1.4 206 for my wife. Collected it 4 days ago. The 60 mile trip home it didn't miss a beat. Used it next few days and it was fine. The next morning trying to start it it was very hesitant. It did start but was juddery and sounded like it had a misfire. My initial thought were the coil pack. I bought a pack and new plugs, fitted it and it was fine again.

Next morning the same thing happened. Some times it drives fine and sometimes drives like it has a misfire. When you do start it in the morning it struggles and it resets the clocks.

I was wondering if a dying battery would cause the juddering and misfire or could it be something else. Sometimes it's fine and sometimes it judders

Any experiences, help and advice would be most welcome before I buy a battery. I can't really afford a diagnostic check as I won't have the money for the battery lol. Cheers

Yeah if it's resetting the clocks then definitely try a new battery.

Can this cause the misfire if the battery is faulty. I don't see the connection. Maybe someone can throw some light in it.

I've been inspecting the car. Taken battery off. Cleaned connections. Still has the same fault. My question is that the misfire is an intermittent fault. Could this suggest an injector issue or would a dying battery also cause an intermittent misfire. I'm going to run some redex through it and see if it helps. Then would be new battery them to inspect the injectors. Sound about right?

Been messing with it all day. Done redex. Nothing happened. Still lumpy and misfiring. Then I went str8 for injector 4 as when I changed the plugs that spark plug was a lot worse than the others. 82 pound and 45 mins of following the Haynes manual as I've never done it before it now drives spot on. No juddering and on eml or beeping. I honk his has fixed it. Will be able to tell 2mo.

Hi ya mate did that solve the problem in the end my wife's car is the same and the garage has narrowed it down to injector 3 and 4 and if it isn't that they say it's the ecu. It comes up with anti pollution fault and cat converter fault in dash did yours do this
