So iv'e got my GTI 180 all serviced up, installed after-market air intake, and now i don't know what to do next. Do not know whether to go down the path of beefing up the power to reach 200hp or go for the looks path. I'd love to hear everybody's opinions and some cool pics of nice looking pugs. Thanks guys Aaron.

It will cost you a lot to get 200bhp n/a
Plenty of ways to make it look different but at the end of the day only you know what you want from it.
My advice would be if you want a tuneable car out of the box buy something thats turbocharged.
I would love to get some decent power out of my 180 but at the end of the day for me its not really worth it, its a fun car to drive as it is so i just try to keep it nice and clean and looked after and enjoy it now Smile

If it's your second car and you're young I'd say go abit flat out OR save for a quicker car std, depends on what you want. Turbo like Dan said would gain like f*** in comparison, doesn't mean they're automatically faster though it depends on many things. Power to weight, grip ect.

If you are like my age, 26 and in one... I'd say f*** no. I'm only doing anything to mine now because I do quite like my 180 and I want to stop buying cars and save for a house. Cams are still only a possible though. Map sure.

200+ you need cams + map.

Obviously a car or maybe 2 didn't make 200 on the rollers with cams + map but all engines are different and react slightly different to mods depending on many variables I'm sure. So I wouldn't say a 180 couldn't or isn't likely to make 200 out of it, and obviously the car will feel noticeably different. It certainly won't be hanging around.

If you don't have deep pockets I wouldn't even bother trying to get anymore power out the engine.

A few quid here and there isn't going to get anything notcieable. You need to do everything which costs thousands.

As the above have said power performance is costly, why not consider improving handling? Lowered, ARB's? better tires ect ect. Have the car handling like it's on rails and of course resulting in better cornering speeds.

All of you have good points Smile You are right i dont have deep pockets, was hoping i cpould bump close to it by polishing the intake manifold, Getting a CAI pipe, and maybe ruinning e85 w/ bigger injectors and rail and with a tune ffcourse. But thatll cost a fair bit. There arent many things i wanna do to it as im happy with it, looks wise i want wheels flush with the gaurds, lowered at front end only, tow strap, an maybe semi slicks. And power im happy at 180, but 200hp would be awesome, im pretty sure the motor would be capable of 200hp stock with a decent tune and good fuel but again.. not in my budget Sad
