Clutch Pedal/Cable knowledge wanted

#1: Clutch Pedal/Cable knowledge wanted Author: jerogizmo PostPosted: Thu Mar 13, 2014 1:44 pm
    ----
Hello,
Driving a 206 HDI,
something snapped, when putting my foot on the clutch pedal. The Pedal is now loose... I obviously suspect that the Cable has snapped. but would Need a few info for repair as it could have broke part of the pedal mechanism too.. Shouldnt I see the cable coming out of that part in first picture ? also should the Rod in picture 2 not be attached to that bit on picture 1?? has that snapped as well as the cable? does that need replacing too?? finally on picture 3 something electric linked to the clutch? if it was break pedal, Id say something to do with Lights but for the clutch Im surprised... can anybody tell me what that is?? Just curious... is it enough to just push that back in the slot... also if anybody has a procedure with details on how to get that job with the cable and rod done, would be much appreciated!!

Thanks for your time!!

Pics aren't that clear but first I'd say check under the bonnet as our 1.4 HDi has a HYDRAULIC clutch! Confused

The clutch pedal looks like it may have snapped, but it's not too clear. What else was on the carpet?? Question

And yes there is switch on the clutch pedal ... not sure why, possibly cruise-control ...

Ignore the comment about hydraulic clutch the 1.4 8V is cable.

The first picture is where the cable should protrude but I can't help more than that as my daughter's 1.4 8V was sold many months ago; sorry.

My only recommendation is to get a genuine Peugeot cable - despite the cost. I have changed cables and the Peugeot one is easier to fit and it is a b***h of a job. Not technically hard just really fiddly to get the cable onto the pedal - very long thin fingers needed.

To do the job you need to remove battery, battery tray and, I think, coolant header.

Thanks for your input. my 206 is 2.0L HDI so I am 100% sure Its a mechanical cable, not Hydraulic.
I have bought the new Cable, removed the air filter box and battery tray... Just need the cable fitted. looks very fiddly to reach the hole for the pedal... and I still worry that the Rod holding the cable (Pedal Side) may have snapped and can't hold the replacement cable in place... Should hopefully found out tomorrow... will keep you posted. but thanks again for your input!

If the HDI is the same as the 1.4 you also need to remove the water header tank to access the location that the cable goes through the bulk head.
From the picture the pedal does look broken. Do you have a mate with same car or can you look at one in a scrap yard?
