#1: Peugeot 206 2.0HDI (Yreg) does not always start. Author: Mark206red, Posted: Fri Apr 18, 2014 10:11 am ---- I purchased this car around 3 weeks ago (with no warranty), ON MY DRIVE HOME I had the lights and the radio on, the battery light and what I assume is the ABS light (yellow top left on the dash) lit up so I turned my lights and radio off and the lights went off. left it on the drive that night and a few hours later it wouldn`t start.
The car spent a week in the garage and had some tests and it turned out the battery was useless, He has put a second hand battery that had been doing nothing in his garage (trial run) in and told me to come back in a week, I have driven the car every day and left it over night with no starting problems, but it still randomly will not start (3 times over a week).
The electrics work still when it won`t start but it feels like the car sometimes does not have enough power to start the engine up, there are no clicking noises, when it fails the start up gets slower and eventually nothing happens when the key is turned, It jump starts fine, it starts up at its best when jumped by another car actually. The car runs fine! even once jump started it will be alright for a couple of days maybe even 3 .
We know the alternator is fine and we are getting a new battery fitted, I think the starter motor itself must be okay, obviously the car is loosing too much power somewhere when starting up!?? Could there be an earth wire(s) or the battery terminal that might be the cause?
Any suggestions or help would be great
P.s. the ABS/brake light (I am guessing) is just above the petrol gauge and looks like a little car swerving.... this comes on and stays on occasionally if that narrows it down?

As for your ABS light, check the ABS rings front and back to see if any are cracked, if ok i would sugest a faulty ABS sensor, diagnostics test will indicate which ones at fault.

It will bolt onto a couple of places, make sure its free of corrosion on those points and that none of them have broken off.
