#1: ************Project Merlot update 03/06/16****************** Author: MrWhite PostPosted: Thu May 22, 2014 1:17 pm
    ----
Hi this Is all new to me so I would love some feedback/constructive criticism along the way.

So this is Merlot the Peugeot, I bought her for £515 and I was in love with her when I saw the Ad.
2.0 Hdi 90 (A/C).

And straight away I really didn't like those steel wheels they had to go. Since I used to work for a Peugeot Breakers I picked up these for £40. I also Had the back windows tinted Limo Black not bad for £55. Also the Gti fuel cap on there and a Phase 2 rear boot strip.

I did also buy a Gti half leather/suede interior for £30 and sold my old one for £28 Wheeeeyyyy.

After having problems with the spoiler I decided to take it off and get some bolts for a more secure fit In the mean time I got a wheel upgrade 14" to 17" Gti Alloys

Bloody Diesel pipe on the drivers side meant I had to change the profile of the tyres to fit but Damn do they Look good. Possible refurb and Sprayed Black/Gun Metals Grey?.

Not that you can tell but I also fitted Phase 2 front lights and had a nightmare re-wiring them (lessons were learned).

Well I decided to turn my attention to the Dull Boring interior of the dashboard that horrible tango coloured MFD and A/c display *shivers*

So me and the Girlfriend decided to get creative and Sticker bomb the center console and I De-Tango'd the displays thanks to a guide followed on here.

Didn't like the Aluminum gearstick and took one from a 307 instead, Your Opinion Yes or No?.

And the Dials, I know I made a mistake with the type of LED's So I could do with some advice on what would make them look better.

So yes I got the Spoiler bolted and Bonded Bought for £20 in China Blue resprayed and fitted badly the first time so got a body shop to have a go, £20 Well spent.

The dent on the passenger side of the hatch was there when I bought the car I just don't know if I want it pulled or have a Vinyl to cover it as it isn't that noticeable apart from the primer showing

So apart from the sub amp 6x9's and upgraded Door speakers I haven't Photo'd I have Bought a Flip Key from Ebay and a vinyl sticker for the third break light that says "WOAH b***h" when you press the brake pedal. Its so childish its funny.

So future plans Well it is a slow old lump 2.0 Hdi but I would like a rear Gti axles with Discs and ABS so its got Discs all round and looks better behind those alloys.

Phase 2 from and rear bumpers I believe I need matching Phase 2 arches and arch liners for the front?
A,B and C Pillars in black (I hear these can be found on the Rolland Garros)
Gti pedals
206+ Or M3 style rear lights

So that's Merlot in all its Glory so far. What do you Guys think?. Have I chaved it up or does it look acceptable to be a feature car on 206.Info haha!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ok so I have updates of whats been done. Still saving for the stage 1 remap ~(any donations welcome ^_^ )~

Rear lights black Led style thanks to a forum member No_Offence I bought these off drove all the way to Leeds and had a really good chat.

I have decided to Pleather the door cards I was sick of looking at that dull blue material

I also got carried a way and went mental all over the roof lining with it too Mwauahaha PLEATHER EVERYTHING!!!!!

I have started to spray the a,b and c pillars and have discovered I reeeeealy need to replace the drivers seat belt the plastic is cracked and its shocking.

So like I said I'm still saving up for the the remap and the tax has just been paid now the cam belt is due so again no money for this month But soon I should have more to report. Hope you like it guys and If you know anyone who's got some EXY phase 2 bumpers/arches they want to sell or donate let me know Very Happy

Oh and I got these installed for all you slow f****rs in Tesco car park who walk out in front of me with your trolley's like your invincible.

So Update again ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Decided to Pleather the s***ty looking dull grey Parcel Shelf.

Had the Car de-Catted ( jsut a pic to show where the new pipe was welded

Out with the old boot carpet....

and fitted this beaitiful laminated wood floor instead.

and I am pleased as a pig in s**t here But this is my new tow bar toy (like the jap drift toys/charms)

I would love your opinions on this...

Beats your smurfs and sponge bob's plush toys doesn't it?

Update
________________________________________________________________________________________

Fitted my sports bumper with the Sp Grille and pressed metal number plate (Thanks to harry for the bumper and fogs)

I took out the A,B and C pillars and painted them black.

and Finally the Black Suede I ordered came and was rapidly fitted on the roof, I think this looks so much better than the old gray one.

I am looking for some ideas for the sun visors and the most likely option is to go for paint.

As always I'll keep you posted

The car looks really good mate, the 17s made a world of difference. Have you thought about a stage 1 remap? More power and a few more mpg too. Keep us updated and with plenty of pics too! Very Happy

That sounds like a good plan with the remap but I have a few things to be looked at before the next mot. 2 drop link bars and my abs ring on the drivers side I'm sure is faulty. How much would a stage 1 remap be?

Go here...

www.hdi-tuning.co.uk

I plan too when funds permit, £99 for a stage 1 to either 120 or 125bhp (depending on other bits). Highly recommended on several forums...

I've even got my cable and laptop setup, I just need to get to the end of a month and have the money left!

yeah sure the De-cat Procedure is removing the Catalytic converter from the exhaust section of the car and replacing it with a piece of pipe the same Diameter of the existing.

Pros - better response and free flowing gasses out of the exhaust for a little more power. (Along with a re-map and Egr Delete A LOT MORE POWER)

cons - will now fail a MOT test as it is stated if the car is fitted with the CAT at the factory it needs to be on the car for emissions (all though diesels dont really need this.)
bit more black smoke out when you boot it.

people have worked around this but simply taking the cat off and drilling out the honeycomb filter and refitting the empty shell thus giving the same effect and still getting it through the MOT.

Also an update I have got a leather steering wheel sports front bumper and masked sport fogs from Harry on here what a nice Chap. well worth the drive down.
Pics to follow. I may do this at the same time as making the head lining tutorial as I'm still waiting on the material.

If you have not already done so, put a couple of strips of masking tape behind your clock display so you cant see the bulbs. the odometer has some white plastic to do the same job. mine both look exactly the same now.

your stickers are NUTZ

Ok guys time for an update WOW its been so long since I have been here. have met a few of the members at the recent Pugfest and was a pleasure to see some faces to names.

So here is what's happened to Merlot since I last posted.

Took a trip to the local Scrap Yard and picked up 4 Sp arches for £20. one quick spray later and Voila I loved the look of the car after fitting these.

Purchased myself a set of Angel Eyes for £60 had to mess with a lot of wiring due to the previous owner having no idea what they were doing. Fitted a set of 8k Hid's and had them Aligned. Super satisfied with the outcome though

Notice the lion badge missing in the last pic? I decided black wasnt good enough so off I went to my local bodyshop with my wheels and fuel cap to be resprayed.

What do you think of the new colour? Merlin Purple for my car Merlot?...

I took a 140 mile round trip and was excited as a fat kid in a cake shop to buy this. I finally got my Fmic Set up for a decent price of £100.

And had to wait 3 weeks to get it fitted so in the mean time I got my STAGE 2 remap from Hdi tuning so should be running 150 BHP and more than 360Nm of Torque
running about 20 pounds of BOOOOOOST too.

Another trip to the Scrappys for a splitter this time £5 for this astra Mk4. Few self tappers later......

Few new stickers for Comical Value. and updated the iPhone on the back to an iPhone 6.

Finally after literally Months of searching for some seats close to me. picked up these Gti 180 front and rear seats for £50 I couldnt believe it £50!!!! one small cigarette burn in a rear seat but near Perfect condition! (The guy I got these from races Pugs in motor cross rallys so buys the cars to strip out and had sold dozens of these in the past. this was literally just taking up space in his garage)

Bought a new and I must say Rare as Rocking horse sh*t Boost guage pod for my pug and with a little bit of bodging and Customising it Fit in well. but what to do with the spare 52mm hole? Go to Maplins and buy a 12v cigerette lighter and wires of course. Its in such a better position now and works on a permanent live so have to watch draining the battery when the engines off and charging stuff.

So that's Merlot now. There has been a lot of blood sweat and tears gone into this so far and I haven't Finished yet. The project Continues......

Was good to see you at pugfest! From far the sticker bomb looked smooth; have you clear coated it?

Hey Guys and Girls

Firstly I am so Gutted I cannot make it to FCS this year Sad

Secondly I have another Update for you on my Project "Merlot".

Since it was my birthday I was given a present and I love my new registration plate.

Didn't take long before I was a bored of the sticker bombing on the dash so did what nearly everyone else does and painted the trim the same colour as the wheels

"Stage 2" button clutch and uprated pressure plate" still not that happy with the pressure plate to be honest its been over 1k Miles and gives a tiny squeek when you put it in 2nd to 5th gear.

I have seen this done a few times and In my opinion it was pretty neat. Shotgun cartridges on the wheel nuts.

I thought it would be a nice touch to have Merlot's name on him somewhere not sure if anyone who calls their cars names have done this but I wanted to.

Got a bit Bored with the Rattle cans and decided to do this to the engine cover.

oh and.....mmmmmm Straight through Exhaust system fitted by PowerFlow (Hope its okay to add this Vid no idea why its changed the res lol)
Also yes I know its not meant to smoke when off boost it was a faulty Maf and is now fixed Twisted Evil

View My Video

New Lights Being Fitted Not bad For a free Swap original crystals

Finished Product I am so happy with my Car I always Puts a smile on my face.

Still lots more I want to do but time and Money constraints are stopping me.
