ecu replacement on 206

#1: ecu replacement on 206 Author: double_tap_that, Location: Cornwall PostPosted: Wed Sep 17, 2014 1:23 am
    ----
I wrote a topic earlier last week saying about starting problems and it now turns out i need a replacement ecu, bmi, and ignition barrel plus key.
Thing is, my neighbour has a 2001 1.6 xsi, which he is selling as its ran out of mot and tax, basically, scrap, so i was thinking, will his ecu in his xsi, fit in my 206cc 1.6 16v, also on 2001, actually, they were made within a month apart, (mine and his), i think it would be cheaper for me to buy a whole car, use it for parts, then scrap it!?
Ps before someone says about matching numbers on ecu, some numpty in the past has taken off the sticker off my ecu unit so i dont know wtf it is lol.
Thanks Guys

If both cars are of the same spec ie 16v, I don't see why not. This is assuming that they weren't built September/October 2001 (pre-plex/multi-plex)

You may need to plug into PP2000 to activate some features on the BSI for your cc

If both systems have the remote key, just swap the blades over rather than messing about swapping the barrels. If the donor only has the service key, then you might be better swapping all the locks over.

Also make sure that you get the VIN and security code from the donor car to make life easier in the future
