Glovebox won't be removed!

#1: Glovebox won't be removed! Author: owlinbrum PostPosted: Mon Dec 15, 2014 12:12 pm

Hi

I've searched and searched for information on how to remove the glove box as I need to replace my heater fan motor (kaput resistor - climate control type). I've found some very useful info here on how to replace the fan motor and details of removing the glovebox here, in Haynes and on other sites, but I'm having terrible trouble shifting it out.

Is there something I've missed as it won't budge. I've removed glovebox door, removed the cd changer, taken the light out, removed the 6 torx screws from round the edge, removed the cradle for the cd changer (one torx screw in the top), I've loosened two bolts that hold the dash on through the cover on the left side of the dashboard, taken the light switch out, but the box interior still won't come out. I've managed to move it a bit, but in doing so the casing has started split in the middle.

Really hope you can advise, please.
Thanks

IIRC there are 7 x torx 20 screws that secure the glove box housing in to the dash.

Hi MrBSI,

Thanks for your reply. I've remove the 7 in total. 6 around the edge (1 each side, 2 top and 2 bottom where the lid clips are). And the seventh was in the middle at the top which also held the cd changer mounting on. But you've got me thinking now, I'll see if there may be another that I've not spotted, but I've checked pretty well.

Cheers

Talk about feeling like a t**t! ☺️

Many thank yous MrBSI. Looks like it'd had been over tightened in the past and was slightly recessed as a result. So I didn't see the darn thing until I inserted my head in there just now.

Happy now - where's my new motor!
