#1: Can the condition of timing belt be checked? By the millage the belt should have been done but i can't confirm this. is there a way i can check the condition? or even take it somewhere to check? Is it worth doing the belt just to be on the safe side of things? and while I'm here whats an average cost of getting the belt done obviously it varies from garage to garage but just to get a rough idea

I'd just bite the bullet and get it all changed as piece of mind ...

if you are a new owner of this car,I suggest that you replace the belt,and water pump as well,so buy a complete timing belt kit+water pump,new thermostat,and coolant,and you will be good to go for another 100K Miles

It may show up as having a record of the same MOT station past few years, and maybe the previous owner had all the servicing done there.
Worth a shot.
