And is it a 5 speed box on the V6?

Yes it is the standard V6 one

It would be like trying to put a 1.6 shaft in to a 2.0 box they don't fit

The 1.6 shafts and hubs aren't as big as GTI/diesel parts. Any shaft from a Be4 gearbox would have been a better start.

1.6 16V has the same hubs as gti

Some 1.6 would have same ends on it as a 2 litre but I would imagine the back mount in different position so would not fit as long one goes throw it

No BE shaft will fit as I say the diff/box ends are different also the distance from box to the back mount is different

I might managed to make one without welding but I though if I was welding one might as well do both as 3.0 shafts better

Would a Be4 box fit the V6 ?

No totally different and probably would not be as strong

You only running 200, shaft strength is a concern. I would personally be fitting the be/206 shaft ends to the 406 shafts/inputs
