I have a 1.4 8v (2006). The throttle sometimes stops working. If I stop the car, take the key out, then start it all ok again. What should I be looking at ?
If I leave the key in and then start it, it still has no throttle response

I guess its electric as a cable wouldnt be a intermitern issue .
Check connections are all ok .
If so Try a different throttle senor or if no good faulty throttlebody ?

It is drive by wire ( should be drive you around the bend) Where is throttle sensor ? is that the accelerator pedal assembly ?

Get the car so that the throttle does not work .
take of air box pipe look at the butterfly in the throttlebody to see if it is moving properly to let air pass as your mate presses the pedal ?

Thanks, Does not work like that, since its drive by wire the computer effectively opens the throttle. I think that by knocking the engine off and removing the key it is resetting something. As I mentioned if I don't remove the key it is not being reset. I think you are correct, there is something that is not sending or not receiving a signal ??

Anything else playing up?
If nothing found. No codes and the connectors are ok it might be a fault with the bsi
But test all components before getting it remanufacture
Test the verible resistor on pedal
Test wiring
Earths
Reset bsi. I dont find this does anything but worth a go
#8: Re: Throttle response Author: Timon2210, Location: PalestinePosted: Fri Feb 06, 2015 12:56 pm ---- Well the first thing to do is to scan it,and see if there is any fault regarding the throttle body,if all is good,then I would say that you can take it out,give it a good clean,by spraying it with carp cleaner,while having the butterfly facing the ground,so that the liquid do not enter the electric system,and wipe it with a clean cloth,till the butterfly returns to it's original color which whitish or silver,anyway,let it dry well before you install it.
after letting it dry,and fitting it back to the car,this step needs PP2000,as you will do a rest to the throttle body,all you have to do it follow the steps the the software asks you to do,and make sure car is cold,and coolant temp. under 30oC

See how that goes first. Disconnect and reconnect cleans the connectors and may be enough to fix it.

Just to confirm one thing that Timon2210 said ? Am I correct in thinking that you say that if I disconnect the throttle body I need pp2000 to reset the throttle ? I thought I could reset it by turning the car on (not starting) and push pedal to floor and release. That way the system calibrates itself ?
I also have an issue with tick over but only when cold.
Bottom line really is do I have to have a PP2000 to reset the throttle ?

#11: Re: Throttle response Author: Timon2210, Location: PalestinePosted: Sun Feb 08, 2015 2:39 pm ---- Well if you disconnect it's plug,and reconnect it,it won't need resting,but after cleaning,the only method I know off is to rest it using a pp2000,with a long process that can take up to 30-40 min. depending on the weather if it's cold or warm,as the final stage is when the fans kick in .

Pedal position sensor programming procedure
• accelerator pedal at rest,
• switch on the ignition,
• press the accelerator pedal down fully,
• release the accelerator pedal,
• start the engine without accelerating.
Motorised throttle housing programming procedure
• switch on the ignition,
• leave the ignition on for at least 10 seconds (do not switch off the ignition
during these 10 seconds and do not press the accelerator pedal),
• switch off the ignition and leave it off for 15 seconds (the ECU records the
motorised throttle programming parameters in the EEPROM - this is the
POWER LATCH phase),
Warning: Do not switch the ignition on during these 15 seconds.
Important: If the values are not programmed:
• the system will not control the engine torque correctly as a
function of throttle opening,
The ECU will effectively not be able to precisely recognise:
• the closed and fully open positions of the throttle.

Just changed one on my ET3 powered 206.
Really needs scanning with Peugeot Planet, im sure there will be some faults stored in the memory that are throttle related.

I will scan and let you know what comes up, no EML light on and car will not tick over when cold, and is a lot better when warm . It drives A1. Now it has started to lose response unless I knock off and remove key before I start (annoying)
