206 GTI 180 interior striping for road/track car/MOT Pass

So I have pulled all the interior out of my GTI 180 but left the srs seats, srs B-Pillar and normal steering wheel in for now to collect advise on the next steps.

After reading the new VOSA MOT Rules it stays that cars fitted with SRS out of the factory must have them present on the MOT day.

Firstly how do rally cars get past this rule?? And is there a way around this? Because they have to be road legal due to FIA Regs!

I have seen quotes online from VOSA Spokesmen:

"Where a car has been extensively modified or converted, certain Reasons for Rejection such as 'components missing where fitted as standard' should not be applied, for example:

A car converted for rally use (i.e. rear seats removed and fitted with a roll cage and full harness seatbelts etc) may have been converted so as not to require a brake servo, power steering or airbags.

How to i bypass the SRS without tripping a warning light to? I.E the seat belt firing powder thing when you crash (Not sure what you call it) , steering wheel airbag, and the srs airbags on the seat?

And has anyone had any luck with this?

I've removed the rear seats on my 180 and been told by my local garage that if there is any rear seat belts and buckles still fitted, it's an mot failure, as for the steering wheel airbag, if you buy a boss kit they come with a resistor which stops the airbag light staying on and getting the car through the mot

That's what I thought with the resistors, and I can knock these up myself in the garage.

But after reading loads online about people having trouble with the new regulations for the MOT i wanted to remove the front seats and place OMP FIA buckets but its playing with the factory fitted SRS which is a fail apparently :/

As the rules state.... Where a car has been extensively modified or converted, certain Reasons for Rejection such as 'components missing where fitted as standard' should not be applied

I have taken everything out of my rally car including the instrument display. There is another advisory rule for MOT testers...... Use your discretion Wink

Spoox got in touch on this subject and they said:

"Good morning Shaun, it is very difficult with stripped out cars that need to be MOT'd.
What you need to do is wire in the airbag lamp to something else that comes on and then goes off when the engine is started, i.e the abs or engine "K" lamp"

Easy job or utter ball ache? I think the latter haha Razz

That's a bit naughty..... If it comes on with ignition they could class it as abs fitted and should be working. Better to remove lamp

Yea I thought it was a little cheeky too Smile

I'm going to remove the light for now as it will annoy the hell out of me.

I have looked into the 306 forums and they all say 2.2 ohm resistors and a lot of mention about Peugeot Planet software to override the airbag light at the ECU.

Some even mentioned removing the airbag ECU???

There are ways of doing it with PP2000.
Pretty easy to remove or add airbags that way. Done it on a couple when seats have been swapped and the airbag light came on. Just changed the ECU setting to NOT PRESENT.

Is it worth the investment then to get PP2000?

I saw them for around £80-99 on eBay and from the link of the Peugeot Planet site?

Seems safer and easier than messing with resistors haha Very Happy

So I have had a good chat with the mot testers a 4 different locations and all have said the same thing.

Regardless of wether the seats are standard or after market, along with the steering wheel, b-pillar trim and all that jazz.

As long as the airbag warning light goes off after 5 secs of ignition and the car is running with no dashboard light then it's not a fail!!!

Hope that clears it up for the MOT test.

Now just to trick or tell the ecu there working Razz
