#1: brake pedal goes to the floor Author: johnpidge, Posted: Sat Mar 21, 2015 5:27 am ---- Ok - I have had fun and games with my GTI 138 - now I have a spongy pedal that with a little force will go to the floor - it stops the car but in an emergency?????
I have changed discs all round - pads all round (including green stuff up front) - front hoses (were a bit rusty/crusty) and even the brake master cylinder - bled the whole system - oh and new nipples on the front callipers -
Still spongy pedal - and I can push it the floor
I cant seem to get the abs to kick in - although I am a little reluctant to try too hard for obvious reasons
What is causing this - the servo looks quite new and the old master cylinder wasnt leaking all over it
Have been trowing money/parts at it and still the pedal is rubbish - with this lot changed it should take my face off when i hit the pedal

No leaks anywhere

Pressure bleeding? Vacuum bleeding? or manual pedal pressing bleeding?
New discs & pads will result in a spongy pedal until there bedded in.

They still stop the car but do not insprire any confidence arghhhhhhhhh

Used these for years on cars & forklifts including my 2 x 206's both with ABS & never had any issues.
As long as you follow the instructions & watch the maximum recommended air pressure they work fine. About 20 PSI tops on the one I used the other week.
