It's going to be the wiring, I've fixed many with out spending a penny.
I would cut the corroded wire and extend it to the force some exposed wire into the the top so the relay pun can force the new wire back into the top where you would connect the relay. Visit my website and take my number il what's app an image of the replace I did last week.

Obviously there's a way to fix it properly, but with no money here's a way if you have the will.

The relays are just bog standard 5 pin change over relays.

Have you taken the little cover off (To the left of the fan) to see what condition the relays and wiring is in?
