Removing HID kit from Morettes?

#1: Removing HID kit from Morettes? Author: JordHaze, Location: Warwickshire PostPosted: Thu Apr 02, 2015 5:45 am

Hey guys,

Just bought some morettes with a HID kit and was wondering what the process is of removing the HID and putting in the H1 bulbs again. Is it just unplug or is it hardwired in?

I'm have a lot of trouble with the HID and just want regular lights if possible.

Cheers,

Jord

What sort of problems are you having with the HIDs? I have HIDs on my car and fitted them myself so if i can help at all, would be happy to.

Passenger side - works fine.

Drivers side - nothing.

I'm trying re-wiring the ground as the guy I bought them off said he was having a few problems with it, if that doesn't work, I'll just take the kit off and stick some OSRAMs in there instead.

Didn't want HIDs, but as they were free I may as well have done Razz

could be a ballast issue?

Without seeing how the previous owner wired them up, it would be difficult to say what the problem is. If you did decide you want to keep them and need any help, just let me know.

Fixed now, it was one bulb in the wrong way round messed up the whole circuit.

Okay, now the other side's ballast has stopped working. Is it worth the hassle?

I would just buy new ballasts, should be able to pick them up for around £15 for a pair.

I would say it is worth it as a lot of people moan that the morettes are very dull with normal bulbs.

Justa word of warning though, ballasts can come in 55w or 35w i cant remember off hand if you have to match the ballasts to the bulbs.

Id still be keen to see pics of how they have been wired as it could be something as simple as a wiring issue.

Also have you checked your fuses to make sure you havent blown one when connecting up the new lights?

I would argue otherwise. I have Phillips extreme 100% bulbs in my morettes and visibility isnt an issue at all. Given the design they will never be as good as standard lights but unless you're doing midnight rallying, standard bulbs arent an issue in morettes IMO.
