Quick oil question help

Hi,

my car needs a top up off oil. Not sure what type of oil was put in it the last time. Does this matter if i top it up with a different type?

Euro car parts say use 5w40 or 10w40 but not sure about syn or full syn or mineral etc.

car is 206 1.4 2004 80,000 miles

any advice would be a great help
