Cam and crankshaft locking tools - where from?

#1: Cam and crankshaft locking tools - where from? Author: neilneil2000 PostPosted: Mon May 18, 2015 8:38 am

I am looking to change the cam belt on my 2000 RFR 206GTi, but I don't know where to get the locking tools from - my local dealer said they don't sell them. The only kits I have found work out at the kind of price I may as well pay someone to do it.

Where is a good place to buy / or even rent?

Don't suppose you could fading out the name of the seller or the kit could you? The ones I've been seeing are well over £100

I will have to have a look next time I'm with the car.

Thanks, have just had a look at that. Mine is a very early model (W reg) so I'm expecting to need the crankshaft holding tool as well. What year is yours?

Mine is a 99 reg so V. I thought that kit was the full kit needed? Infact I'm 100 percent sure it is.

If your doing the cambelt you should do the water pump at the same time. Take your time and have a manual with torque values to do everything back up to and it will be easy

Either 6mm or 8mm drill bits also work fine!

There isn't much room to work so drill bits might be a bit nasty .. I used 6mm and 8mm hex headed screws when I did the CC's 138 engine ...

Isn't there a clip of some description for the lower crank that holds the belt in place? Didn't use one on the 138 but seem to remember seeing one related to the 180 engine.

Easier and safer to just spend 40 notes on a Spoox Motorsport cam locking/timing tool set.
