Oil filter quandry
-> 206 Problems

I'm just in the process of doing an oil change on a 2003 1.4 lx and the replacement oil filter is 70mm long which is shorter than the one coming off the car. However, the one coming off looks like it's been compressed whilst in the housing. Searching the web, I can see two different sizes of filter with the larger sizes having what looks like a plastic plunger sticking out of them.
The filter housing is approximately 90mm tall, but the old filter doesn't have the plunger thing.
Could someone shed some light on which might be the correct filter to use?

I think it's 8mm. You should be able to pick one up from Halfords.
I have a double ended sump/gearbox tool that you turn with a 19mm socket or spanner

similar to this

or this is the socket
