Fault Lights
-> 206 Problems

#1: Fault Lights Author: jk27 PostPosted: Mon Jun 01, 2015 2:58 am

Hi Everyone, Johnny new boy here.

I hope someone can help, here goes.

I have recently bought a 206 2.0 hdi.

After fitting a new starter motor I get the following problems, Intermittent passengers air bag light, or immobilizer light. Some times it will start ok for 20 starts and then the fault lights come on for ages and then stops again!
The other thing which is worrying me is that sometimes on start up the fuel gauge needle and rev counter needle drop dramatically anticlockwise for a second and the reset to normal.

The car always starts and runs ok.

Over to you guys, thanks in anticipation.

If the EML light has been lit, get it plugged into a code reader, preferably PP2000 to see which faults are stored on the ECU. It will point you in the right direction and is more accurate than guesswork of the possible causes.

No, not had that one.
Just airbag and immobiliser.
This morning my wife set off to work with the airbag light on but it went off and stayed of after 2 miles.

Airbag fault (and various others) have been known to have been triggered by weak batteries - I'd check the state of the battery and charging system first of all.

Just fitted a new battery and everything seems to be fine again.
I never suspected the battery as there were no starting issues.
Thanks for the advice.
