Replacing hub and hub carrier off a different car
-> 206 Problems

#1: Replacing hub and hub carrier off a different car Author: sloposse PostPosted: Thu Jun 18, 2015 2:28 pm

My 206 cc failed its mot miserably, it was expected though as the car was bought very cheap with most known problems.

Worst being the suspension being in a very poor and dangerous state. I've got a refurbed rear axle from imaxles off ebay here to go on so that will be fine hopefully and ive also got new bones, drop links and track rod ends.

The old front n/s wishbone is so loose it looks like a mortar and petri dish, the ball joint is so loose it has widened the hub clamp hole so badly it is no good

Now i've got a friend whos breaking a cc but its only a 1.6 where mine is a 2.0.

According to servicebox they are exactly the same hubs, hub carriers, bearings, legs and springs, the only difference being the diesel has a different hub.

Does anyone know for sure if I buy the leg and hub assembly that my 2.0 driveshaft will fit it?

Also need a windscreen too.

Cheers Andy

I thought MA gearboxes had different hubs...The ends of the shafts look different anyway.

Im using my original 2.0 shaft with be4 box, according to servicebox the hub that the driveshafts go through is the same on 1.6 and 2.0. I've got the new leg now so will be able to confirm if it fits or not when i swap it over.

Are you sure that it won't clamp back up? Remember the bolt sits in a small groove in the balljoint "pin" .. tighten it slowly and over a few days (to avoid putting too much stress on the metal all at once) and it might, just might, go back to normal.

the hub pin is still in place and fully tightened, the ball joint is so worn and loose it has worked its way out almost.

Only got half way through doing this today but I can confirm that the 1.6 cc's hub, and hub carrier are identical to the 2.0 cc's and my driveshaft fits it fine.
