Ok.. seriously , for a while now I have had an issue with my indicators , sometimes when I flick the switch up or down to indicate nothing happens !!
Which of course will not do out on the road .
If I fiddle with the switch turning lights on and off on the stalk , they usually start working again but its worrying .
What do you think the problem could be , and what's the fix ?

What you might find when the indicators don't work, is that the headlamps come on. Not good as it looks as if you are flashing somebody. A quick fix is to turn your headlamps on while driving, even in daylight. This seems to stop the intermittent indicator failure.
Depending on the spec, a new Valeo com unit is about £150. It's easy enough to change yourself though. There is a guy who used to advertise on ebay who would fix them, but you never know how good the fix is so a new part is the best option.

We stripped the Delphi com 2000 unit down and refitted , just in case it was a bad connection , all seemed ok but after a drive the horn wouldn't work or the indicators , a quick flick of the lights on and off , and back they came.
Now ... do you think the com unit is failing or could it be a bad earth ?
If so where are the earth points on this car ?

Main earth is on top of the gearbox and then it loops onto the bodyshell.

Is that under the battery box ? I would like to check the earth before buying a comms.
I have heard earth problems can cause some weird issues .
My indicator stalk isn't loose , and feels as good as new , course it still could be that .

Follow that other wire which bolts onto a chassis leg(?) Sorry I'm a little rusty - It's been a while. The gearbox earth is held on with a 13mm bolt and the chassis is a 10mm I think. The chassis one is a little harder to get to though.
From what I've heard, if these earths fail then you're potentially looking at replacing your ECU along with the majority of your electronics so please be very careful when working on it. It might even be worth inspecting the eyelet connectors while you're poking about. If they're corroded and looking sorry for themselves you might want to clean or potentially even replace them.

Also is your car preplex or mux? And engine size and year might be helpful. I've been writing this under the assumption you still drive your 2004 Peugeot 206 xsi hdi 2.0.

Yes still got the 2004 xsi hdi 2.0 hatchback . Multiplex I am cetain.
Photos would be great ,but please don't go to too much trouble .
I'm still thinking comms , but was thinklng , if I turn lights on and indictators aand horn work again .... , it could be due to the added load . Making it search for earth , if you see what I mean .
