206 key fob issue
-> 206 Problems

#1: 206 key fob issue Author: _Jay_, Location: Luton PostPosted: Tue May 10, 2016 5:44 pm
    ----
Hi all.

I'm back in the 206 circle as just bought the wife a 206cc 2ltr. All is well with the car except the key fob not unlocking the car.

So I can lock the car and unlock it with the key in the actual lock. That works fine and works the central locking fine. The fob will lock the car and alarm the car perfectly fine. If I push the unlock button on the fob though, nothing happens. So you have to unlock the car with the key which sets the alarm off and means I need to quickly put the key in the ignition to stop it.

So what could be the issue causing this, and how can I fix it?

Thanks in advance,

Jamie

The micro switch inside the keyfob will most likely be broken - common issue as the fob ages.

Repair kits available on everyone's favourite online auction site OR send the fob away to one of them that also repairs keyfobs.

NOTE: You need a low powered soldering iron & skills in soldering surface mount components to repair this as it's very easy to ruin the printed circuit board!

Considering I haven't soldered anything in the last ten years, probably best I don't do it. Issue I have is the car is needed on daily commute at the moment.

Will see if there's any one local to have a look at doing it on the day.

If I open the fob up, would I be able to see anything to indicate this being the issue?

Come to think of it, it may have the plain not remote key, so sending it off may be an option.
