#1: Tappets Author: Mikewhh, Posted: Sat Jun 18, 2016 7:33 pm ---- Hi I was wondering I have a 1.4 8v tu3a engine and was wondering if they have hydraulic tappets? If not how do I stop tapping noise?

There manual adjustment & must be set COLD - engine left standing overnight to cool down.
Number 1 cylinder is gearbox end.
You need a new rocker cover gasket & don't over tighten the rocker cover bolts as you will warp the cover leading to leaks.
FWIW: The stoneage mid 1980s TU engine design has always been a bit tappy.

#4: Re: Tappets Author: MrBSI, Location: What's it to you? ? ?Posted: Sat Jun 18, 2016 8:01 pm ---- I would suspect an hours labour charge would cover it.
It would be a simple job for an older mechanic to do.
