#1: 2004 peugeot 206 1.4 hdi full beams stuck on Author: thng33 PostPosted: Mon Sep 12, 2016 10:24 pm

ive just come back from driving at night and, just a turn before getting home i turned the high beams on and now they wont turn off no matter what i do. the indicator stalk always has been a bit silly. seems like the switch is physically stuck on the ON position and id like to know what the possible fix could be. as of now ive removed both 10 amp fuses for main beams but the battery is still draining as the blue warning on the dash are still on. would buying this fix it?

thanks in advance

I have a 2001 Pug (pre-placed, so simple stalks). I took the unit apart to fix the blinker myself. That was relatively easy.

If you expect it to be a switch in the stalk, you may first want to try cleaning some stuff up before spending money.

I used this link to fix stuff: philsworkbench.blogspo...r.html?m=1

Easy job, was done within an hour (and I am still a novice). Also allowed me to look at other bits and pieces and made things smooth. Took it out, cleaned it, greased it nicely and put it back together.

If you have a multi-plex, please follow the right instructions concerning removal of the battery if you do.

Hope this helps.

I've seen retro-facelifted non-multiplexed ones; the only reliable way to find out which el. system you have on your car is in Beginner's Guide

Edit: I should pay more attention to thread's subject Embarassed clearly says 2004 -> multiplexed

It's a 2004 so it's multi-plexed. The changeover on the electrical system came in October 2001.

The change from phase 1 to phase 2 body styling occurred around April 2003.

it is multiplexed but i can't make the whole electrical system go in "stand-by" as the blue warning for bull beams keeps the system on 24/7. so how do i go about fixing this? do i open the wheel anyway?

Have you tried disconnecting the battery?

I am not versed in mux Peugeots, but topic opener said that car cannot be put in stand by due to dashboard light remaining turned on; thus scared to develop a fault through disconnecting battery in wrong way.

Do a search for bsi reset and go from there, although to be honest it does sound like a faulty switch.

If you are planning on removing the comm unit, then you will need to disconnect the battery anyway and then wait about 20 minutes so you can remove the airbag from the steering wheel. Might as well bite the bullet now and disconnect the battery and then reconnect it using the correct procedure.
