206 hdi restart from hot problem

#1: 206 hdi restart from hot problem Author: sjkuhn PostPosted: Thu Oct 13, 2016 10:02 am

Intermittent problem.

On a long journey if I stop for a break (after couple of hours probably), when I return to car it starts fine but there is almost no power when I depress accelerator. The car barely moves (maybe 5 mph or less). If I turn off the ignition and restart, it's fine.

My son now has car and problem getting more frequent (he does more long journeys) and on last occasion switching off and on didn't work. It took over an hour for restart to work properly.

No engine diagnostic light. Peugeot mechanic admits unlikely to be able to diagnose problem because intermittent.

Needs scanning with Peugeot Planet.

Which one of the 3 different HDI lumps fitted to the 206 is it?

What's Peugeot Planet? Is this the Peugeot diagnostic software?

Sorry, no idea which HDI lumps (pumps?) is fitted. How can I tell?

His question translates to ' Which HDI engine is in your Peugeot 206?" in English.

1) Yes
2) 'lump' is jargon for engine. Smile

Thanks guys.

It's the 1.4 hdi engine. It's a 55 plate.

Had it put through the full electronic diagnostic check at garage today. As suspected no fault found.

Couple of additional clues maybe. My son tried to restart straight away this time on way down when he stopped. Re-start and accelerator response was fine. Came back after 20 mins-usual problem.

He tried pumping the accelerator pedal in neutral this time-and accelerator response came back.
