#1: Anti Pollution Fault & Cutting Out & Codes Author: 206HdiGti PostPosted: Fri Aug 11, 2017 9:54 am

Hi all,

A few weeks ago my 2005 HDI 1.6 failed it's MOT on a leaking fuel cooler.

This has been replaced but unfortunately the clip the goes onto the inlet pipe is leaking.

However, before when the cooler was leaking diesel there was no anti pollution light at all and no bad running.

Since i've replaced the cooler and found the leaking clip, I've had an anti pollution light on and randomly the car cuts out mechanically completely! A few weeks ago it cut out when I was doing 40 and had to pull over, but all the electrics worked.

Yesterday after I bought some diesel it cut out 3 times in a row. Only way of restarting was to remove the keys and put back in again.

The car does not tell me to STOP nor does it go into LIMP mode. Randomly the turbo also cuts out leaving me with no power. If I pull over and turn the ignition off then back on again, the turbo works for the rest of the journey.

It also takes a while to start, like 5-6 seconds, before it started almost instantly.

Any ideas?

Had my codes read:

P1351 -
P2408 - not bothered
P1442 - needs resetting - already filled up
P0087 - fuel leak on cooler connector im hoping this will fix this
P0238 - does anyone know how to fix this?

Its the PSA 1.6 diesel engine of doom, most people are sensible enough not to own one in the first place.

Here a link to the problems with the wonderful piece of automotive design.

This is the only major problem I've had since buying it 5 years ago.

So thanks for that, so you can't help because I've bought the wrong car, thanks a lot.

I need a replacement ECU.

It's not actually related to the turbo at all.

I'm going to scrap the car but see if anyone wants any interior bits first!

Never buying a Peugeot again.

Many thanks to the people on here that were helpful regarding the model that I have got.

There will be plenty of replacement ecu's sets around - loads of these have been sent for scrap over the years due to the DV6 lump failing.

Are you sure it's the ECU?

Our 1.4hdi played up like this and once it was the glow plug heater relay .. really! The 1.4 actually rarely uses it but this was driving me nuts! The next time it was the crank sensor.

What are you using to read the codes? If it isn't PSA specific it will just chuck random numbers at you!

Bit like our Renault: AA said it was the fuel pressure pump .. my Sealey diag said it was glow plug relay (again!) . Turned out to be two dead glow plugs!
