#1: Things to check / do on newly purchased (old 206) ? Author: Colin_P, Posted: Thu Jan 25, 2018 4:41 pm ---- Apologies if there is already a thread on the subject but I was wondering if there is a "must do" list of things a new owner should do the car?
I plan to work through everything anyway, cambelt is top of the list (see other thread and that if I can find out which one the car needs), the rear brakes need looking as well. I'll be checking all the suspension and other braking components just as you would on any car.
But what I'd like to know if there are any "must do" or "must check" items on these 206's ?

If not, assume that the timing belt and water pump will need replacing. As far as I know (please bear in mind i'm a fairly new owner myself!) there aren't any 206 must-do's that are any different to any other car.
Personally, I would also change all the fluids as soon as possible, then check all your normal consumables such as pads, discs, filters etc.
I'm sure some of the other more knowledgeable guys will be along in due course to add to this.

The Preventive Maintenance is Best thing you can apply to prevent any major problems and costly fixes:
1-Replace Timing Set +water pump
2-Replace Thermostat.
3-Do an Oil Flush using a decent brand and not a cheap one,and use a good quality Oil+Oil Filter+Air Filter,if it's OEM would be better.
4-Replace Spark Plugs.(NEVER fit NJK spark plugs)
5-Check front disks and brake pads (Replace if needed),also check rear brakes,replace if needed ,also check for leak in system from an old hose or pipe.
6-Do a flush for brake fluid as it needs to be replaced every 1-2 years.
7-Check the front end for any bad bushings.
8-Fill the cooling system with coolant only,not tab water.
