This 206 GTi 138 was destined to be broken for parts if someone didn't buy it - the usual scenario. £500 the guy wanted for it - so I thought it looked ok in the ad - I'll go and have a look. On closer inspection the car looked terrible - it became obvious the car hadn't moved for some time as rear brakes were seized. Engine runs ok - but Air Bag/ABS warning light are showing. I offered him £150 for it and he agreed. The car has mot to 21st July 2018 - I figure this will be the time frame to restore the car. So the project begins....

Good luck with the project mate nice to see one been saved! I don't see many 180's or 138's near me anymore!

Welcome to the forums! Glad to see another one being saved. I look forward to seeing how you get on, especially as I'm in a similar position.

Can't wait to get a decent chance to look over the one I picked up and start patching it up! (Time and weather being the major issues at the moment)

I removed the go faster air filter and opted to fit the std airbox to keep engine roar to a minimum.

Sheared off the looking nut on passenger side wheel after I had attacked it with a impact driver. Need to get some carbide drill bits and drill it out lol.

One of the locking pins are missing from key locknut - need to find a replacement. I will come back to the passenger wheel removal later - as I need to get hold of some decent drill bits.

Someone thought it be cool to paint rear light clusters black. I don't like them so replacements were put on.

Much better in my opinion...

Good move fitting those back lights. Soon there will be hardly any 206s left. They aren't special enough for many to justify looking after. Rarity will make them worthy of saving though.

I still want a 206 SW Si. Maybe with a 180 enginein it.

Hi Edward - yeah your right - I think this is the best time to buy one when at rock bottom prices. Look what happened to the 80's Hot Hatches - no one wanted them - but now prices are beyond most peoples pockets lol.

The interior is dirty - so I removed the passenger seat at first just to gauge condition of carpet. Looks as though it will clean up nicely - on passenger side that is. Centre console needs removed and properly cleaned though. Found lots of money - pity it wasn't pound coins or that Euro lottery ticket..lol.

Well, haven't been able to really get stuck in to this we project. Weather very cold in south west Scotland at the mo. Set the car up on car ramps for a good look and prod around today. I was happy just to see surface rust in places, but nothing serious. Exhaust system completely gone in places - I have a new replacement that I will put on tomorrow.

Update on lock nuts removal. In the end I had to fork out £81 for one locking wheel nut key from Peugeot main dealer. I expect it to be gold plated at that price!

If you want some standard GTi front springs let me know. They have sat in my garage on a shelf for 14 years! Only spent 3 years on the car so they are almost immaculate.
