ignition, revving, engine on and off. Alsorts!!

#1: ignition, revving, engine on and off. Alsorts!! Author: mrscavin PostPosted: Tue Mar 06, 2018 12:13 pm

HI. My sons 52 plate 206 started behaving strangely. Firstly it began just revving all by itself and if we got the revs over 3000 it stalled. Eventually we got it going and the problem seemed to go away. Well it is now back, when you turn the engine on and drive you here like a click in the ignition and the car starts revving and the engine keeps turning itself on and off whilst still moving. Anybody any ideas please? Taken it to two local garages and they have never seen this fault before and have no idea what it could be. The car has a black box installed for insurance purposes, is it possible do you think that the black box could be to blame? Even though the box has been fitted for 6 months before the issues started?

Need to know which engine it is as this age of 206 could either have a mechanical throttle set up OR electronic fly by wire throttle set up depending on engine.
