#1: Wrong bulb fitted lots of problems. Author: Tooly, Posted: Tue Apr 27, 2021 11:46 am ---- This problem has been happening since I bought the car 2 years ago, the side light would come on when I pressed the brake pedal then I noticed that the third brake light was on when the lights where switched on.
Also one brake light was not as bright as the other one then they started to come on and go off straight away then they stopped working.
So had to investigate for the MOT so first I started with the fuses both were OK then I looked at changing the brake switch but that looked difficult so looked at the bulbs and could not believe what I found, someone had put a single filament bulb into the light/brake socket so shorting out the two connections, so changed it to a proper one, switch on the lights both on and not the tailgate brake light, all brake lights working and the side light no longer lights up when the brake pedal pressed.
Such a simple fix but could have proved costly if took to a garage.
