Optional Satellite Navigation display

#1: Optional Satellite Navigation display Author: MattyP, Location: Plymouth PostPosted: Fri Apr 28, 2023 5:03 pm

With the Gti180 I bought from my brother, it originally had the optional navigation unit fitted but when he had bought it it had this removed and anything else related to it.

It currently has an aftermarket stereo fitted but my brother is under the impression that a wire that was connected to the navigation unit has been cut as when he's tried to re-connect it it doesn't work.

I am having this looked into when I get a new stereo installed along with the stalk controls connects2 but my question is, do I still need the main unit that was installed in the glove box and if not, can I fit another MFD without issues?

Image below is what I believe to have had fitted but now removed

What I am looking to replace the above with if it works without any issue as this unit has the correct number of pins for the connector and the 2 screw locations.

GTI 180 would be multiplexed & a PPT 40 connector plug to the multifunction display unit.

They would normally have had the larger 3 line trip computer type display.

You might need to tinker in the BSI configuration with Planet after swopping out the MFD.

I remember the multiplexed 206 I owned had a factory 6 disc cd changer & single line display, retro fitting a 3 line display killed the cd changer until a tinker with Planet to change the BSI configuration set up.

For this 180 if you remove the optional sat nav system from the configuration set up then the BSI should just ignore it allowing it to be unplugged / removed.
