Hi folks. Got a few questions for those in the know. First one is a 2-parter. Does anyone know why the esp, eml and handbrake lights come on when I turn the headlights on? Only happens on main beam, not sidelights. And why the eml light flashes when I indicate left?

Second question is, any idea why the temperature is showing so high on the mfd?

Final question. Can I swap the one piece hazard light switch for the two piece?

Thanks in advance.

Chris

Heya, the Christmas lights sound like wiring/earth problem, but if you still got your 05-plate blue Pug, it's multiplexed, and these signals should be controlled by the BSI through the logic circuits.

Thus could be the COM2000 stalk unit (behind steering wheel) that's giving in. (Remembering on my 1.4 HDi indicator would start on its own, just imagine the looks etc. I had been getting from other road users:))

On multiplexed cars you can swap the hazards switch with the two-button+LED one, given that its connector has full wiring.
If it doesn't, you could try and shunt the cables as is explained here (you'll need a translator from French, I know I did:) forum-auto.caradisiac....rning-206/
It's possible some tweaks will be needed in PP2000 after that still.

Thanks for the reply, Sim.

Ive atill got the blue hdi for now. It was off the road for a year and a half until it went for an MoT last month. Failed on a number of things (horn, brake pipes, one sill, eml on etc) and got a it booked in to get over a grands worth of work done. Day came, dropped it off for garage to phone saying after they had it up on the ramp that it was also gonna need this and that. Eml light was due turbo and egr. Also needed depolluted. Was going cost roughly an extra £600 on top. Couldn't justify it any more. Owned it for just over 2 years and had already spent about £1500 on it before it was laid up.

The questions relate to Sylvie, a 2004 5-door 1.4 16v in ETS I bought last week. Cost the same as the blue one, £600. MoTd until August. Cream seats and biege/ cream interior. A wee bit crusty inside, but will clean up. I've already swapped the facory 14" wheels with the alloys from the hdi. Along with the seats and some other black bits of trim.

I'm on a couple of forums/faceache groups. You're the only person to the com2000. Which was my first thought too. Other suggestions include fuses, relays, battery condition, bad earth, BSI. I have pp2000 but a useless 2 chip clone lexia that wouldnt read any ecu on the hdi. Might also be partly because it's 32bit Win XP on a 64bit lappy. Will be getting a real one soon.

The roof rack will be coming off, getting cleaned up and then sold on.

You could in theory smoke-test the COM2000 from the HDi-donor and hoping that wiring is long enough, attach the connectors there (no need to touch the airbag ones nor remove the wheel). Different COM2000 unit model numbers only have a differing set of features, but still speak the same "multiplexed" language.

If you checked the earths and did BSI reset, such symptoms could also point to crackled soldering of the instrument panel. Perhaps remove the shroud and apply light pressure on the board? Do not consider replacing it, unless the donor has lower mileage, otherwise your car's mileage will change to match the highest recorded number (to counter mileage rewind kiddies).

I've also gotten a Lexia cable clone, running in a WinXP VM on a Linux laptop, no troubles tweaking Pugs. Failing the HDi, can your one read the 1.4 16v maybe?

Sorry to hear the HDi had been giving you grief, until got retired. As for the new car, congrats! Nice ash grey that in ETS, got any photos? (suggesting a new thread:)

There is a main wiring loom earth bolt located behind each headlamp, these likely need removing & cleaning.
