Goodridge hoses we can do the zinc plated kit for £42 + P&P and the stainless fitings for £50 + P&P. Postage would be £3 to UK addresses - if anyone wants it to go elsewhere let me know and I'll work out some shipping costs..
Payments would have to be via a direct bank transfer as some of the savings are from us not having to pay credit / debit card transaction fees..
If people wish to pay by Paypal I don't mind sorting out the bank transfer.
I've previously arranged 2 other successful group buys, I’m no scammer Last edited by CD-B3 on Thu Jun 24, 2010 5:03 am; edited 14 times in total

You can DIY if you know how to bleed your brakes as you'll need to replace the brake fluid.
I'll be taking mine to a garage for peice of mind, only will be ½'s labour or so.

Sounds like he's had a bad experience with some.
However these are braided, woven, which have plenty of flex, I can tell you this due to owning some a while back.
Rubber hoses expand when braking & degrade over time.
#9: Re: Goodridge Braided Brake Hoses - Group Buy Author: Edward, Location: In the garagePosted: Fri May 14, 2010 9:35 am ---- If anybody is expecting to notice a difference with braided hoses ask yourself a question.
If rubber hoses gave spongey pedal feel would they fit them to pretty much every car? If they were that poor wouldn't the manufacturers spend an extra few quid and fit braided hoses?
Buy some braided hoses if you want some that look better but don't buy them if you think they will give better braking.

Do you not have them on yours?
#11: Re: Goodridge Braided Brake Hoses - Group Buy Author: Edward, Location: In the garagePosted: Fri May 14, 2010 9:41 am ---- I do have them and they make no difference at all. You'd have to be driving your car on track and using the brakes as hard as possible all the time to see any difference.
Also there's no point in getting stainless hoses with zinc coated fittings. You'll need stainless fittings too which cost extra.

Thanks for the input, I'm judging interest on what would be a good upgrade. Its soley down to the buyers choice now.
#13: Re: Goodridge Braided Brake Hoses - Group Buy Author: Antix, Location: WorcesterPosted: Fri May 14, 2010 9:59 am ---- It's the fact that the Goodridge brake lines are thinner and don't expand (losing pressure) that are the 'plus points', surely?
The brake fluid is forced into the brakes quicker - therefore making the brakes more effective by being able to work sooner.
Before & after my brake hose replacement:
I have to say that it was a worthwhile purchase for my car.

The braided hoses look so much better than the rubber ones [and not likely to be cut by vandals/chavs/jealous rivals etc]

Kits feature the finest quality hose, consisting of a PTFE inner with a stainless overbraid. This eliminates the spongy pedal feel under arduous conditions, giving greater braking efficiency as well as providing superior resistance to abrasion and corrosion. These kits, therefore, not only provide the reliability and safety demanded but offer brilliant good looks that improve the appearance of any installation. Hose end fittings come supplied as zinc plated steel as standard, stainless steel fittings can also be supplied for the professional finish.
I have sent a message regarding the fittings.

lol - when I bought mine I was assured [granted, by the vendor] that all 206's had the same brake hoses.

Many thanks for taking the time to look though.
Cheers.
It will be copper lines going into the drums but there will be flexi lines going from the beam to the chassis. Id suggest towards the front of the rear beam area you will find them.

No word back from the other company.
I've been really busy recently so haven't had much time to look into it further.

If the quality high then go for it, like I said I'm pretty busy at the moment.
Do they fit Peugeots though?
I see they're listed for Subaru, Nissan & generally Japanese cars.

The HEL brake lines are suitable for Peugeots - even 206 GTi 180's with rear drum brakes
So you can lock up the rear
The hoses should be the same fitment whether it being drums or discs on all 206s
#72: Re: Goodridge Braided Brake Hoses - Group Buy Author: Jono, Location: Dorchester, DorsetPosted: Wed May 26, 2010 2:48 am ---- The company predominantly sell japanise car parts, but offer brake hoses for over 5000 different makes and models of cars including Peugeots
They are top quality, in my opinion, comparing them to some Goodrich hoses I had on my old Mini, the joints between the hoses and the fixings are better quailty
RRP for these are £59.95, so a £10 - £15 discount depending on how many order.
Cheers

This was bought to my attention by my customer when he went for a MOT test.
My customer drives an Accord Type R. I fitted a set of HEL braided brake lines to his car less than 11 months/10,000 mile ago.
During the MOT test visual inspection, the MOT tester points out that his brake lines are cracking, then it went onto the brake roller test, when maximum brake pressure as applied, one of the brake lines burst and squirted brake fluid all over the inside of the wheel. Instant failure.
The old brake lines were refitted to get the car through the MOT.
This is when i got the phone call about the situation.
I went to check out the brake lines, and whilst i was there, i thought it would be a good idea to check over 2 other cars that i fitted HEL braided lines to.
heres the pics of the offending items on the ATR.
The 2 other cars were: Accord Type R and Integra Type R.
The ATR had the HEL brake lines fitted less than 9 months ago, with less than 6000 miles on them,
The ITR had the HEL brake lines fitted less than 6 months ago, with less than 6000 miles on them.
BOTH of them showed signs of cracking/splitting.
The ATR had 1 brake line (OSF) which was cracking in the same place as the ATR which failed on the mot.
the ITR had started cracking on both front brake lines where the brake line support bolts to the suspension.
pics of the 2nd ATR brake lines
offside front brake line
Now i dont use these lines, but if any of you do id have a quick check.
6 members have all started posting pics of there's which have all done the same thing.
Fail thread? Maybe.

Postage would be £3 to UK addresses - if anyone wants it to go elsewhere let me know and I'll work out some shipping costs..
Payments would have to be via a direct bank transfer as some of the savings are from us not having to pay credit / debit card transaction fees..
Could a mod change the thread title back to Goodridge..
