Oh not at all matey. They aren't "cheap" in relative terms, but compare them to their sisters, the S2 Elise and the same age/mileage/model is about £4-5k less than the Lotus. But it's the same car...

I bought it at probably about 57k miles last year for £7600. Full Vauxhall service history and completely standard, bar a Sony head unit with Bluetooth and an AUX in so I can play my iPod. Couple of previous owners, had been garaged with the last owner, and alloys didn't have a single mark on them at all.

I've probably spent on top of that £7600, around £3500 on the car, meaning the actual total cost would be around £11k, however a 230bhp (25bhp less) supercharged VX without a full chargecooler system, and without some of other little touches mine has, and almost the same mileage, just sold for nearly £13k. Mine is probably worth around that I should think, if not perhaps a tad more as I've just changed the timing chain (our version of cambelts) and also had the engine inspected by someone who builds Z22SE engines said it looked like a newly recon'd engine with barely 1k miles on it as it's been so well looked after.

Sorry didn't see your reply!

It's a completely different league to other cars, and still there are others that are even further into that league. It's effectively a track car that was slightly adapted for use on the road. They would have come with supercharged engines if the development hadn't been stalled in the USA, instead they just used the turbo engine. It's more at home on track than on the roads, though that's not to say it can't be used as an every day car at all!

So it's a lot easier to turn one into a 'track only' car than it is say, a 206, or car of equal calibre.

Haven't really updated for a while either, but only a couple things to add.

Other than changing the coolant cap not much has been done.

I have got some 1155 compound pads on the way with some Mintex discs to fit.

Need to order in a rear tie rod as well as mine has some play in it and I'd rather not risk it for the sake of £60.

Probably a few other things I should get as well. I know I've got a CG Lock coming, which is effectively a little bracket you put on your seatbelt that locks the bottom section into place, acting like a partil harness.

Don't argue the opinions of idiots.

Cheers Cal, definately have to catch up at some point yeah! What you up to this year?

Another update from yesterday is I fitted new discs and track pads, along with a new rear tie rod. Just bedding them in, in time for Rockingham.

No pics for now, but maybe I'll take one at some point while the discs are all completely shiny and rust free Smile

Dirty, as usual, but brakes are nearly bed in and tie rod is holding well.

Connected ABS back up to make sure it's working okay in case of rain. No ABS will most certainly try and kill me on a track.

Moving to Leamington but keeping a job in Northampton, not feasible to drive 350 miles a week in the VX unfortunately.

So selling this, and buying a banger and another VX N/A and taking it off the road, as I don't have the spare cash to run both at this time. Will make the new N/A a winter supercharged project, and will have longer to search for one, most probably in black or red, as I prefer them to silver Smile
