i have found a set of clocks to replace my broken set. they are the multiplex two plug type.
do the gti 140 clocks reset to match the milage on the bsi like the gti 180's

Basically which ever one is the highest mileage, be it on the clocks or the BSI
WILL become the shown mileage

No 206s reset to match, don't know where you've got that information from.
Pre plexxed mileage is within the cluster whatever clocks you have it will just display that amount.
Multi plexxed 206s will update the bsi IF the mileage on the clock is higher or update the clock to the current mileage of your car.
Basically, if you get clocks on a multiplex that are higher mileage it will overwrite the current mileage. Best to just get a set thats lower.

i have found a set for £40 which i think is good as they are selling for well over £50. but the milage is 120k and my car has only done 82k.

If you car is multiplex it will display as 120k and update the bsi at the same time so you won't be able to get any lower than that.
I have some gti 180 clocks on around 102k.
You can get mileage correction done though

No Peugeot main dealer has the equipment to correct the mileage, find a set of clocks with a lower mileage then your car currently has else its gonna get expensive to put the reading right.

Places like BBA Reman can tweak mileage on clocks as long as you provide evidence to back up the claimed mileage.
