Goes from good, to bad, then even worse if you buy the gti hdi! Nothing but a pain in the a**e that 1.6 engine

This was great, back in the day I could afford insurance and fuel (which it used an awful lot of!)
And my very first car...

Not totally correct. Providing proper services are carried out on time with the proper oil and not thrashed the DV6 is OK
Sure, DPF, DMF can cause non service related problems but I bought mine with a SMF already fitted and DPF removed.
So provided its well maintained getting 50-60MPG and 110ish BHP personally seems good to me
