Hi guys,

Basically there is a oily substance on the top of the coolant, guy at a local mechanics mentioned how Peugeot engines do tend to a oil residue, especially when it gets cold out and not to worry (This was back in November/December time)

I was thinking it could of been the head gasket, as it was also leaking in the front left corner timing side, (I have the 1.4 8v) but have since had new head, skimmed etc back in January.

Like said, it's only a small residue on the surface of the coolant, basically i'm wondering if it's anything to be worried about?

Appreciate any replies.

Has the coolant system been flushed since you had the head gasket done back in Jan, could be remains of the old head gasket leak.
Normally a garage would of done it included with the head gasket repair but it wouldn't be the first case of them not bothering..

Coolant was flushed, I checked it.

I might be wrong, but I thought the oil was only leaking out the engine, as the oil residue in the coolant only apperared when it started to get cold.

If the engine does small runs, condensation builds under the oil cap, nothing to worry about, unless it's in the filler bottle

It's in the filler bottle.

I honestly think it's been in there before I had it, or maybe leaked from the Head Gasket before I had it fixed.

I'll give it a flush and see how it does!
