Hello everyone.
I have a problem, today I accidently dropped my car key and it stopped working. I thought maybe the battery has fallen out, so I opened the key fob and the battery was out because one piece of plastic has broken. I decided to put a small piece of paper to hold the battery. When I tried the key, the light on the key fob works, but the car doesn't respond to the key. I have spent 15 minutes pressing the button and the car finally has opened. After that I can't close the car, the car just doesn't respond to the key.
Any ideas what could it be and how to fix it?
I have a 1999 206 and there is only 1 button on the key fob, but it is really strange, because when I opened the key it looks like there suppose to be 2 buttons.

Don't know if this is the case for the fobs, but it is pretty common for circuit boards to have 'unoccupied' holes/pads that are there to support an alternate version/configuration/use of the board.
If there is room for them, it makes sense to maybe drill a few extra holes while you're at it anyways (and the extra copper traces/pads makes no fifference at all except maybe in the design stage), rather than having to manufacture and stock 2 (or more) different boards.

Hope it was a piece of plastic and not the immo chip. Did you keep hold of it just in case?

It was just a piece of plastic, a plastic clip. There supposed to be 2 of them to hold the battery from opposite sides and one is broken, but the chip is in place and looks alright.

Try this method..it might fix things for you:
1. Ensure all the doors are unlocked using the key.
2. Press and hold the plip key button until the LED stops flashing.
3. After releasing the button, the LED will light constantly.
4. Press the Plip Button once, and the LED will extinguish.
5. Open the door and hold the Plip key near the Ignition switch, and press the plip button one time.
6. Turn the ignition ON, and wait 10 seconds, then turn ignition OFF.
7. After 5 seconds the Plip should now operate.

Thanks for that, but my problem resolved differently. I just disconnected the car battery and connected it back. The key started working again properly  I guess the system just needed a reboot.
