Hi all. Posted before about the rubbish idle on my w reg (2000) 206, and thanks for the feed back. I have been driving it as I always do and have been keeping an eye on the miles I get. So, I let the car run right down, warning light (I know one should not always do this!) but went from canary wharf to Chatham in Kent which is around 27 miles with the warning light on....I made it! 
Put 42 pound in, reset the trip and for this get around 390 to 400 miles...which I think is good! I have done this a few times and it is running fine. However, I have this idle issue. I cleaned the throttle body and replaced the ICV. Disconnected the battery for an hour. Once all together again the car would rev to 3000 - 4000 rpm, be impossible to drive. So, put that down to a cheap ebay repro. So, via ebay bought a second hand ICV from a 2000 206, car had don 83000 miles. Did the same thing and again, the car would rev wildly, rev hunt and be horrible drive. So I have put the old one back on and it is okay other than this ilde, say sitting at the lights. It goes up and down between 800 and 950 rpm....Arrrhhh!! It is really doing my head in! Surely I must be able to change the ICV?? The car can't just work with the one it was made with? I have seen a complete throttle body with all the sensors on ebay...looks the same as mine, but the engine code is HFX, mine is KFW...will this be a problem? I need help!

You might well need to do a procedure to reset the new icv. I THINK it is turn the ignition on (don't start the engine) and leave for 10 seconds and then turn it off. Repeat this 3 times.

I think something may be wrong with your record of £ in the tank or miles driven as you have the most economical petrol 206 that I have ever seen - especially if you are driving in London traffic.
Even assuming that you are paying £1.20 per litre that is 50mpg!
Maths:-
£1.20 per litre X 4.54 = £5.45 per gallon.
£42 / £5.45 per gallon = 7.71 gallons.
390 miles / 7.71 gallons = 50.59mpg.

The only thing I can say regarding the mileage. Tank almost empty, needle almost at the lowest point, warning light on. Went to petrol station, put in £42.39p. Set trip to zero, put more fuel in when the warning light came on. Reading on trip: 398 miles. I do drive like I'm 70 though (42!). Most of my driving is in 5th gear on the A2...like a black cab

Fuel near me is around £1.11 to £1.15 per litre.

I have the same symptoms in my 206GTi, to the point where it will stall itself when cold.
Any progress on troubleshooting?

No. It sounds terrible when cold. I am going to change the injectors and coilpack...I hope this will sort it out.

I have a code reader so I'll plug it in to mine and see what it comes up with and let you know - maybe it will help

Cheers. I did borrow a code reader from someone the end of last year and it wouldn't read all the data...I think because the car is old and the reader would only work on the newest cars. However, It did say permanent O2 sensor fault. Took a look and sure enough the sensor came apart in two bits! It had snapped inside! Anyway, changed it with a second hand one from ebay and that problem has gone. Its just this 'pup pup pup' sound and rough feel when cold....and the revs on idle....but I can't fault the petrol usage. Once again the warning light cam on. Went to Morrisons, put in £27.49 of petrol in. Reset the trip, left it till the light came on again...reading...228.9 miles. So she is running fine on the drive to work.

Glad it has worked out 
I have had an oil change, no difference. I think it maybe to do with the injectors.

Last fuel filter change was in 2013, so guess this could be changed. The trouble is that the car is a nightmare to get through an MOT, only just and it is still a bit naff. The timing belt will need changing this year but if the emission issues are not getting better I don't want to spend all of that then get a fail or difficult time with the MOT. So I have bought a second hand throttle body with all the sensors from the same year. Going to clean and swap. A second hand coilpack and a new o2 sensor. The pugs are Bosch and were change just before Christmas. If no change I will swap the injectors around or replace them, and that is ya lot. New type approve cat has been fitted, no codes and no warning light on dash. When I had a the car running on 3 cylinders (that time an injector had gone...garage fitted NGK plugs!) had a compression test and all was good. So I dunno....last chance. I really like the car and have no desire to get another one

Let me know how you get on mate. Mine is still a bit troublesome but replacing fuel filter and doing an oil change has made it way way better. Something is still not right though. I'm suspecting lambda sensor but they are a pricey component to take a chance on
