Hi folks, forum newbie, hope someone can help me here.
Car is a 2003 206 1.1 Petrol, manual, 47000 miles (genuine). Serviced last month with new plugs & filters. 3 months ago had Catalytic Converter and No.4 Injector replaced due to EML. Car has been running very smoothly since then (as it always has) with normal fuel consumption etc., very healthy starter, starts first time every time very quickly.
EML has come on again (not flashing, same as last time), fault code reader gives "Catalytic Converter Ageing. Loss Of Effectiveness". Cleared fault from ECU but next time car was started EML came on again. Also noticed back box has become a bit noisy so new exhaust probably required for starters.
I had a search through the forums but whenever this fault was mentioned rough running and stalling seemed to accompany it. Mine is different as it is running absolutely fine.
Does anyone have any ideas or pointers as to where I should look?
Should also mention the wife is sitting her driving test in it in a couple of weeks time, hence the urgency to get it fixed...
Hoping it is something simple like exhaust or sensor, would appreciate any help.
Regards
Smithy

Could simply be the leaks in the exhaust if it is rusting ..

Right, an update...
Cat is knackered (after being fitted 3 months ago), apparently some approved aftermarket cats don't work well with the 206 and end up buggered after a few months - this was confirmed both by Peugeot dealer and the cat supplier who are going to replace it with a genuine Peugeot cat under warranty.
Not a happy bunny, can't believe there are approved parts that are
Taking it to Budget (the supplier) this afternoon and they will look at it - probably won't get parts until next week so will update you all further in case anything else goes wrong.

Aftermarket cats are not worth a w**k.
A genuine second hand cat would be a better bet if anyones on a budget.
