Hi guys, this is my first post in this section and unfortunately it's about my 206 1.4i 8v KFX from 1998 wich has a problem I can't seem to fix in the last 4 years or so.

So my car is this:
1998.11 206 hatchback with the 1.4i 8v KFX engine, non-multiplex variant, Magneti Marelli IAW 1AP.81 dreaded ECU. It does have the revised Bougicord Electrofill coil pack from factory I believe. Latest ECU software update at Peugeot. Manual 5spd wich AC.

Describing the problem:

The car starts just fine at cold, but after about 3 - 6 seconds the engine stalls\dies, it sounds like the cilinders are flooding and it dies. Crank it again and it starts perfectly, and most of the times it doesn't stall again. There are however sometimes when it starts just fine and no stalling occurs. THIS happens at cold starts only. There is also a pronounced gas\petrol smell on cold starts when this occurs.

After starting the car from cold, in the first mile or so, the car experiences a lack of power, "flat spot acceleration" seems to be the words Peugeot describe this in their TNNs. It feels like someone pulled the parking brake handle or I'm towing something. This is only for a few hundreds meters, under a mile and THEN SOMETHING "clicks" because suddenly the power comes back, I mean if I keep my foot exactly at the same position on the accelerator pedal when the power "comes back" I get pushed in the seat. This is happening since I got the car 5 years ago.

The more severe issue is the fact that at wide open throttle or when engine load is present the car seems to misfire or should I say the car stutters, vibrates, the gearknob vibrates and the revs go up slowly. I can though rev up to 6000 if I press the pedal gradually. Releasing the accelerator after a wide open throttle causes a backfire in the exhaust like rally cars. This though doesn't happen all the time, seem totally random and either with engine hot or cold.

Now let me tell you what I've changed\done to the car:

- Plugs 3 times. First a set of Bosch, then a set of Valeo and recently a brand new Peugeot ones that are made by Eiquem.
- Went to Peugeot 2 times, they found nothing on diagnosis. I asked and received the latest ECU update.
- Coil pack. It is a Electrofill one but I tried with a known working one from another Peugeot 1.4 and no changes.
- IAC valve. Two times, first an aftermarket one then a brand new OE Peugeot one, no changes.
- The two sensors located on the throttle body.
- The ENTIRE throttle body
- Gaskets for the throttle body
- The MAP sensor located on the intake manifold on the left. Original by Bosch.
- O2 sensor. Bosch
- Removed the exhaust and catalytic converter, it is not clogged.
- Breather tube on the top of the valve cover. Old one broke anyway but wasn't clogged.
- All 3 temperature sensors, the ones on\near the thermostat housing.
- Checked compression, all cylinders ok.
- Checked fuel pump and rail pressure, all ok 3.5 bar I believe.
- Injectors checked and ultrasonic cleaned, spray patterns and flow ok. Resistance checked on all 4 and identical.
- Fuel filter off course.

All this time the car showed no check engine lights and almost no errors at all, be it read with PP2000\Lexia, Bosch KTS, Delphi. This ECU doesn't tell nothing!

I recently got hold of a Bosch KTS650 unit to play with in my free time and I did some live data reading, and got these:

Injection time cyl 1 - 4.8 ms
Injection time cyl 2 - 4.8 ms
Injection time cyl 3 - 280 ms
Injection time cyl 4 - 0.0 ms (stuck at 0.0 ms)

Then these: values are in "degrees"

Injection angle reduction cyl 1 - 0 (stuck at 0 all the time)
Injection angle reduction cyl 2 - between 8 - 16
Injection angle reduction cyl 3 - between 0 and 126
Injection angle reduction cyl 4 - between 78 and 99

And these:

Ignition coil charge time cyl 1 - 2.22 ms
Ignition coil charge time cyl 2 - 2.22 ms
Ignition coil charge time cyl 3 - 215.0 ms
Ignition coil charge time cyl 4 - 2.22 ms

I went and removed the injectors and switched number 3 and 4 with number 1 and 2 to see if the values "move" with them, maybe my injectors got bad again even though they were checked and tested day before but NO, the values remained the same, and injection time on cyl 4 seems stuck at 0.0 like no data is being read there.

I know this is a long post, sorry for that but 4+ years with a unidentified cause for these issues on this car does gets you a novel.

So what do you guys think I should do next?

I think I may have a similar problem on my 2.0 Magneti Marelli 206. However I can't watch your video. YouTube says it isn't available.
