Having issues with getting the arm to go back in the hub, I undid the track rod arm, used a very long lever to pull the lower arm down, but every time the ball joint goes in partially then flips in its side and I cant seem to get to go back upright to enter the hub, any ideas / info ? turning the hub left and right , up and down has no effect in the process I also caught the boot and split it, so got a wait now till replacement boot arrives, obviously I don't want the same to happen again, do I need to start thinking about removing the spring and damper, to free up the hub then re fit everything once the lower arm is in?

You need someone to push the hub and strut inwards as you let the arm back up.

It is possible to do alone .. got the T-Shirt ... you control the arm with any part of you body that isn't your hand/arm (back/leg), one hand/arm pushes hub inward and carefully manoeuver the balljoint pin to the right angle with the other.

I've done several and never taken the strut off ...

Then again if you have three or four arms you are OK! Smile

Did it this morning, roped up the strut to the subframe to keep it in place, fitted a new boot to the lover swivel, lent on a big bar, and the flipping thing went straight in first time, just shows you, had I done that to start with, I wouldn't have had the problems I had first time.
