Given my own personal experience I will still claim they can be, not that they all are, hard to get off. Glad to hear that mine seem to have been a rare exception though.

And yes, I tried tapping, wiggling etc as I didn't have a puller at hand when I first tried, but the puller was the only thing that did it for me and then only with a fair bit of torque/tension applied.

No signs of rust or other corrosion either, so f-k knows why it resisted the way it did - the other side came off as easy as you say they all do...

Should I mark the position of the wipers or anything before removing them or does it not matter as they will only go on one way? Don't wan't them going back on in the wrong positions or anything and then I can't wipe the windscreen properly!

Yep, one nut secures the arm to the axle. Splines on the axle/hole in the arm prevents the arm from slipping as the axle rotates.

The arm arms can be very hard to get off the axle.
Had to use a gear puller but had to grind down the gripping edge/finger/angled bit in order to get in in between the arm and the cover below.

If your attempting to remove the cover on a multiplexed 206 make sure the car is LOCKED.

Dont want no fingers damaged if someone accidentally knocks the wipers in to service position while your trying to remove the cover Laughing

if you just go out and examin it, its pretty self explanatry.. pull it up as it is hinged at the smaller end then just pull it out!

hi, it's best to lift the cover from the widest end, it's clipped on in a similar way to normal wiper end covers.

Ah cool, thanks I'll give that a try later on. Does it matter what side you pull from? Are there any clips holding it in?

Can you take that funny shaped box on the main wiper off at all and possibly repaint it?

 


It and the arms of my wipers are a bit rusted and I would like to give them a proper clean and then freshen them up with some black paint. Can it be done, or would I be better covering the windscreen and bonnet in some old newspaper and just spraying them lightly while still on the car? Thanks.
